Aircraft Spruce Canada held a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, June 6 at their new facility at the Brantford Municipal Airport. Following two years of operation in Mississauga, ON near Toronto, Aircraft Spruce moved to a new 12,000 sq. ft. facility in late 2008.
The facility features a retail store with parts and pilot supplies, as well as a large warehouse of inventory for shipment of orders to customers throughout Canada. The Grand Opening event provided special pricing on the full range of Aircraft Spruce products, as well as product demonstrations by manufacturers and a lunch provided by Aircraft Spruce and the Canadian Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Over 300 aircraft flew in for the event, the largest flying event in Brantford in thirty years and the total attendance was estimated at over 1200! The Flying club pumped three thousand liters (3,000 ltr) of gas, the most they have ever done in a single day. The COPA flight served approximately 800 hot dogs and hamburgers and along with the proceeds from the raffle, collected $1,550.00 for their COPA for kids.
Scott Adams and the staff at Aircraft Spruce Canada managed the event, with assistance from Jim Irwin, Jeff Irwin, and Desiree Czaplinski of Aircraft Spruce West in California and John Markley from Aircraft Spruce East in Georgia. Jim Irwin, President of Aircraft Spruce said: "We were very pleased with the turnout at our Grand Opening as well as the support we have received from aircraft builders and pilots throughout Canada. We look forward to continuing to supply our Canadian customers with their aircraft parts and pilot supplies from our facility in Brantford".
