The EZ Flap manual flap extension allows the pilot to easily and instantly reach the manual flap “Johnson Bar” lever… without leaning forward or bending down in the cockpit. EZ Flap puts the flap control at the correct distance from the pilot, not out of reach on the floor!
Pilots can now remain upright and alert while using the flaps, keeping their focus on landing or takeoff, terrain, traffic, and without interrupting instrument scan… regardless of which type of shoulder harness (standard, “inertia reel”, or no harness) is being used.
Many pilots bump into the control yoke forward while leaning down to reach the flap lever. Many pilots fly with their shoulder harness loose or slip out of the harness to get to the flaps. All pilots using manual flaps lose most of their outward visibility when they have to reach down for a floor-mounted flap handle. EZ Flap solves these problems once and for all!
EZ Flap gives the pilot two correctly positioned flap control locations, so there is always a convenient, safer control within reach at all flap positions:
On Cessna 170-185 manual flap aircraft, EZ Flap provides much easier access to the flaps between 0 and 20 degrees, then swings out of the way under the elbow when the original Cessna lever becomes convenient for the 30 and 40 degree positions.
On Piper PA-28 aircraft, EZ Flap provides far more convenient and safe access to the flap control at the first two positions, and is still comfortable at the maximum deflection position.
PA-18 Super Cub pilots will be able to concentrate on getting the most performance and safety out of their aircraft under demanding bush conditions. Access to the flap control is easily within reach, without leaning forward and inducing an unwanted forward movement of the main control stick. Back country landings and takeoffs are no place for a Super Cub pilot to break their concentration or compromise terrain awareness even for a second.
The original flap system remains fully functional. Pilots have the ability to use the EZ Flap handle and/or the OEM flap handle interchangeably, whichever is closest/easiest for the pilot at any part of the flap travel. The net result is more safety, more convenience, more enjoyment, and getting a little extra performance out of the airplane
EZ Flap is STC-PMA certified on Cessna 170 -185 aircraft, with Piper PA-18 and PA-28 certification expected by October 09, and other models being added soon. The simple bolt-on device mounts to the existing flap handle with no disassembly or re-rigging in approximately 30 minutes, requiring only two small holes. Proudly made 100% in the USA.
