The XPLORER system delivers superior value because it gives pilots access to free datalink weather today and a built-in upgrade path to fully compliant ADS-B capabilities to meet the 2019 equipage deadline. The system is based on FreeFlight Systems’ proven and highly regarded RANGR family of 978MHz UAT ADS-B systems and receives the full ADS-B Flight Information Service Broadcast (FIS-B) that includes graphical weather. XPLORER connects wirelessly to any suitable display including the iPad running FreeFlight System's free app. The FreeFlight Systems XPLORER solution is permanently installed with no cockpit or wire clutter. It also includes an externally mounted ADS-B antenna for unimpeded reception of broadcast data. When installed with a certified ADS-B Out transmitter, the XPLORER system also becomes a full-featured, ADS-B traffic receiver. Unlike other low-cost receivers, it will not display incomplete and therefore potentially hazardous traffic information. Please note any ADS-B unit will operate within the USA only when in clear line of sight of an ADS-B tower (flying at a higher altitudes may be required to gain proper signal). Will the FreeFlight Xploxer work with the Dynon Skyview system?
At this time no, Dynon has there own solution for an ADS-B receiver which will tie to the Skyview system.
Will this work with the iFly 720 GPS?
The makers of the iFly 720 are in the process of working with FreeFlight so not at this time but check back in the future.
Will the FreeFlight Xplorer ADS-B Receiver work with the Advanced Flight Systems EFIS systems?
Yes, the Xplorer will work on the Advanced Flight Systems EFIS systems?
Will this work with MGL product line?
FreeFlight is working with MGL right now but MGL has not yet confirmed the interconnect.
Does this system work with Garmin's GTN 750, and G500? Does it work with ForeFlight on the iPad?
The Xplorer does not work with the Garmin GTN 750 or G500 or ForeFlight.
Does it really work with Wing X.
As of 3/28/2013 Wing X says the FreeFlight Xplorer will work with there app. For any connection question we recommend contacting Wing X. (Also not that ADS-B is a line of sight system and you most likely will not get any data on the ground).
