Those
pilots who marveled at all the technology of the GNS 430 but want a scaled-down
version that will complement their existing avionics now have alternatives.
With the GNC 420, Garmin has taken the navigation accuracy of GPS and combined
it with a 10-watt comm and color display. With its self-nomination feature,
pilots can easily load their next comm frequency into standby with the touch
of a button. Additionally, the GNC 420 is a self-contained unit, meaning
both annunciation and switching are included in one box.
The GNC 420 is
also TSO certified for non-precision approach use. The GPS 400 combines
Garmin GPS design with a full-color moving map for the best in situational
awareness. The map features a built-in database that shows airports, cities,
highways, railroads, rivers, lakes and coastlines in bright colors. Thanks
to a high-contrast color display, the information can be easily read from
wide viewing angles, even in direct sunlight. The GPS 400 is also TSO certified
for non-precision approaches. These two products are perfect for the pilot
who desires cutting-edge technology but has limited needs and a desire to
spend less. The GNC 420 and GPS 400 TSO must be installed by Advantage Avionics. |
