| This noise-cancelling, electret microphone allows operation with most hand-held radios and attaches to a wire GA boom headset.
Often when using a GA headset in conjunction with a hand-held radio, pilots find they can hear very well, but no one can hear them. The problem originates with the GA standard of setting the electret mic bias standard at 8 to 15 volts, but most hand-held radios supply 1 to 4 volts. The GA mic requires the higher voltage and will not operate at the lower hand-held levels, thus causing the problem.
Here is the solution! Simply loosen the GA mic set screws, remove the mic from the end of the boom and install this noise-cancelling electret microphone.
