| The Air Whip uses a unique common-mode inductive core made of VHF ferrite material to isolate the feedline from the main body of the antenna. This permits feeding a complete half-wave dipole antenna from the end rather that in the middle, and gives an antenna that installs as a single length of wire. Since a dipole is a complete antenna, there is no need to provide a groundplane as is the case with ordinary quarter-wave whips.
A better antenna for Ultralight and Light Sport Aircraft
* High-performance half-wave end-fed design
* Pre-tuned, ground-plane-free-perfect for composite/fabric aircraft
* Installs in minutes without soldering or drilling on any inside surface
* High-efficiency, wide bandwidth = greater range and clarity
* Pre-wired mil-spec BNC connector - ready to plug-and-play
* Receives VOR with appropriate radio
Installation
Installation of the Air Whip is a snap. Simply lay out the whip portion of the antenna into the aircraft nose, side-panel or even flooring - any area that is free of metal and spanned by a composite or fabric surface. The antenna is then fastened in place using velcro, glue, cable ties, or even duct tape. The Air Whip has been mounted in Cubs, Champs, VariEzes, Challengers, Chinooks, Gyros and Gliders, all with great success.
