Manufacturers of general aviation style headsets often have customers that want to use headsets in open cockpit flying. Beyond that, customers want to have a helmet that protects headsets and prevents headsets from blowing backwards in the open wind. Sport-Link designed its line of GA Detach Helmets in response to this demand.
Sport-Link Detach helmets are designed for additional flexibility allowing the pilot to wear a headset alone or with a helmet. These models are the same as the Open-Face models with the exception that a channel is in the top of the liner to provide space for the headband of the headset to lay.
SLC helmets are not designed for safety or to protect against head injury, falling debris, impact, concussion, heat, cold, the elements or any type of injury. They are solely to facilitate communications.
Added feature on our detach helmets for Bose, Zulu, David Clark. Pilot can have their headset mounted inside the helmet and put on as a unit or the pilot can fly with just his headset by releasing the Velcro straps.
For the Sport-Link GA Detach Helmets, are the snaps on the front for attaching a face shield? Are they available?
The snaps in the front of the helmet are for a face shield and they come included with the helmet.
