With Zulu PFX, Lightspeed Aviation has leveraged cutting edge technology, world-class engineers, and superior customer knowledge to leapfrog the competition and produce the world's quietest premium ANR headset for aviators.
Lightspeed's proprietary PFX technology creates a uniquely personal flying experience by actively conforming to your ears, your environment, and your preferences.
Streaming Quiet™ dynamic ANR uses external ambient microphones to continuously sample cockpit noise before it penetrates the ear cup. A powerful digital processor analyzes microphone inputs one million times a second, instantly creating customized ANR responses.
Acoustic response mapping uses sound waves and advanced signal processing to measure the user's ear size and shape, adapting the audio response to each pilot's unique auditory landscape.
A variety of audio and other pilot preferences can be personalized using enhanced capabilities in FlightLink, the free, proprietary app developed by Lightspeed for the iPad® and iPhone®.
Of course, Zulu PFX also includes the award-winning comfort and advanced features that have made the Zulu family the choice of pilots around the world—made even better.

I tried this at Oshkosh and the new PFX blew me away. I have hearing loss, and have progressed from a Bose X to a Zulu to a Zulu 2 ... each one better than the last for hearing clarity. At OSH they had the new Bose A20 next to the Zulu PFX. Simply no comparison. The PVX sound quality and clarity was markedly better than the Bose and a definite improvement on even the Zulu 2. Some may not need this, but for me it is indispensable I am pre-ordering now.
Ive flown for 26 years. My first ANR was the Zulu 1. I had stepped up from PNR David Clark model that I had from when I first started flying. At the time I thought that the ANR was amazing, but in fairness anything would have been amazing from PNR to ANR. Along comes the Zulu 2 with the trade-up program. I bit and was surprised that the ANR could be better. I really loved my Zulu 2, so when the Zulu PFX came along instead of trading up I held on to the Zulu 2 just in case the PFX wasn't as advertised. The price tag gave me a pause too, but with the ability to return the PFX, I figured that it was worth a try. I fly a 1969 C-182 O-470, great plane, deep throated and loud. I also wear sunglasses on just about every flight. Just about any headset is vulnerable to allowing noise leaks when wearing sunglasses. The PFX limits the noise leaks actively. Thats the only explanation I have for the quietness that I experienced when using them for the first time. The Zulu 2's are good but in my opinion the PFX is a true class of its own. I still have the Zulu 2 and it's for passengers but the PFX is a great step up and to me worth the money as its a totally different experience from all the other big names in ANR including Lightspeed.
So quiet it's scary! My previous headset was a Lightspeed Zulu. I didn't believe the reviews that said the PFX is as big a step forward from the Zulu as the Zulu was from a passive headset. I believe it now. Sometimes they are too quiet. Gone are the engine and prop noises I've grown used to. Did that prop cycle? I don't know, I have to lift an ear cup to find out. I'm not crazy about the larger control box but it lays on the floor and with the new style cord doesn't seem to be a problem. Also, loading the batteries is a bit fiddly, as they want to pop out until all four are in place. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I had an awesome experience ordering from aircraft spruce. Their customer service and support is second to none. They're always quick to reply to any queries and willing to help. I'd like to particularly commend Ken. He was awesome at helping me sort out any ordering issues I might have had. Thanks! Now, onto the headset. Man, I've used a colleague's Zulu 2's before and I thought that the PFX wouldn't be that much different. Shock on me. They're awesome! The streaming quiet feature kicked as we started taxiing in our Cessna Grand Caravan EX. They went so quiet I got scared for a second there. It was like nothing I'd ever heard before. I say they're worth every cent. The build quality is superb, I especially love the new cord design. It seems to be really tough and rope-like. Only time will tell on that though. The comfort is amazing, they're quite light in weight and once adjusted for head size, I just forgot they were there. Let me not even mention the audio quality when I piped in music via the aux port from my iPhone. If it wasn't for the engine's vibration on the cabin interior, I'd almost swear the engine had died. I was also skeptical at the 'learning' capability of the headsets. I can vouch for that now. I was amazed. My first landing was on a really rough tarmac runway. I heard everything from the screech of the tires to the reverse kicking in. Come around second landing, poof! All that was gone. It was all at a barely audible distance. My mind was blown. I'm probably Lightspeed's biggest unofficial marketeer in Kenya. I can't stop talking about these sets. Lightspeed you rock! The PFX are in a class of their own, truly. Thanks again to all the folks at Aircraft Spruce and once more Lightspeed Aviation. You have one more very very happy customer.
