(Click image for a larger view) | If you haven't flown the North Country, you should. Until then you can soak up some of most untouched wilderness left on the planet vicariously with this new DVD from Bush Cat. While this is not the first video made by a pilot flying his airplane, 60 degree North at 500 Feet is a cut above the herd. The production value is high, including lots of pilot's-eye aerial footage from the Beaver (occasionally supplemented with some even juicer footage from a helicopter) coupled with a nice musical accompaniment.
The DVD plays like a Warren Miller film or a variant of Endless Summer, made just for pilots. There's some great fishing, great people in the film. This hour long video encapsulated an entire summer of flying in British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Alaska. Needless to say, you get a view of the North that only pilots get to see. |
