(Click image for a larger view) | Preparing for a flight to Alaska following the Alaska Highway can be daunting for pilots not familiar with Canada flight rules, flying mountainous terrain, remote / wilderness areas and not being sure what they will encounter along their route. With proper planning, the only surprises that a pilot and companions will encounter will be the magnificent scenery. We feel the private pilot would have a tremenous advantage in planning their Alaska flight if they could visually see and study a video presentation.
During the course of our 40 min. ALASKA HIGHWAY FLIGHT AN ADVENTURE DVD and companion 28 page booklet, we present to the pilot a variety of subjects dealing with pre-flight planning and preparation which includes maps and charts; weather, navigation and navigational alds; mountain flying, U.S./Canadian customs, major differences in American / Canadian flight rules licensing requirements, required survival gear, camping tips, personal needs, money exchange and available fuel at remote airstrips.
Also included are the short flights to the infamous Dawson city, Yukon at the confluence of the Yukon and Klondike rivers and to the former mine boomtown of Faro, Yukon. |
