PTI’s Water Reducible Epoxy Primer is chemical and solvent resistant. It is a TUF/FILM epoxy primer that conforms to MIL-PRF -85582D. It is especially recommended to inhibit corrosion of aluminum and other plated or unplated metallic surfaces. That being said this primer is also able to be used on composite surfaces. The Water Reducible Epoxy Primer has one of the lowest VOC levels of any primer of its kind on the Navy’s QPL. This primer should be used with PTI topcoats to provide maximum adhesion and corrosion protection. However, may be used with any other manufacturer’s paint or lacquer finish coats.
Use Instructions
The Water Reducible Epoxy Primer is a two component product, comp A is the paint and comp B is the catalyst. This product should only be reduced with distilled water. The mixing ratio is 4:1 which is 4 parts comp A to 1 part comp B. This mix should be thoroughly shaken and reduced with 1 part distilled water and allowed to stand for 45 minutes before using. This product should be applied in thin films of 0.6 to 0.9 mils. It is recommended that you spray a fog coat followed by a thicker coat. For best results use the cross spraying technique to avoid runs and drips.
