RITE ANGLE BASIC SYSTEM AOA

The RiteAngle Basic, is the result of customer requests for a high quality AOA system for aircraft without flaps. It was designed in 2009 by EM Aviation. This is the most accurate low cost AOA system available to customers today.

Note: The Basic system is for aircraft without flaps only.

The RiteAngle™ Basic uses electronics not available during earlier designs of RiteAngle™ systems. Although operationally similar to prior RiteAngle products, the RiteAngle Basic is a totally new, more efficient, economical design.

It is a modern up to date system, that accurately determines your aircraft’s angle of attack. This series uses our proven, easy-to-understand, five LED display. Green indicates Safe, Amber indicates Caution, and Red indicates Danger. The “On Speed” AOA, 1.3 Vso will be correct, regardless of bank angle, density altitude, or any of the other variables where the airspeed might be inaccurate. We introduced the LED AOA display in 1995 and it has been so successful that all of our competitors now have an LED display available.

Vane (Refer to Image)
Next time you are getting on an airliner, look in the general area below the Captains and First Officers windows, near the middle of the fuselage. Notice a vane? During my 19 years flying for a major airline, and in business jets before that, I was provided an Angle of Attack System, that made use of a vane. If it is reliable enough for airlines, that are responsible for passenger safety, it is reliable enough for our homebuilt aircraft. The same polymer vane is used with the RiteAngle™ Basic as is used on our custom designed systems which cost $3500. We have wing, fuselage and jury strut mounts. These mounts will satisfy all types of aircraft, from the simple ultralight to Jets, and have been in use for over 11 years.

Note: Small vane (compared to standard vane) is more streamlined and smaller as requested by owners of aircraft cruising over 200 kts, however it requires the ball bearing sensor due to the reduced airfoil area (except with the Elite System). See Accessories.

  • Easy to understand display (Green = Safe Amber = Caution Red = Danger!)
  • No connection to any flight control for ease of approval on certified A/C
  • Power with 8 AA batteries for total “stand alone” ability
  • Vane made of polymer, same vane as on our $3500 system
  • Set-Up requires no maneuvers that you didn't practice before solo!
  • Same vane sensor in use for over 15 years
  • DOES NOT "TAP" INTO PITOT OR STATIC LINES! (wax your aircraft without disabling your Angle of Attack with wax obstruction in a pressure port!)
  • Solid State high reliability- average LED life is 100,000 hours
  • Low power consumption - under .25A
  • Able to withstand shock & vibration much better than a tungsten filament or electro-mechanical lamp
  • 1.75" wide x 2.75" tall x 1.25" deep
  • Uses T-13/4 (5mm) Bright LED's
  • Has on T-1 (3mm) amber LED to indicate power is on to RiteAngle Basic
  • Vane and sensor, vane mount, if no aircraft electrical system use 8 AA batteries or equivalent 12 V DC source
  • 2 wires to electrical source, (12-24V DC), 3 wires to vane sensor. Less than ¼ amp draw. Suggest using ½ amp fuse. On / off switch (not furnished) install in the +12V wire. There are no options on this basic AOA system except the Ultra-Bright LEDs
  • Under 1 pound for all applications, not including wiring
