SIDEWALK FLYER PEDAL AIRPLANE PLAN KITS

Red Baron Tri-Plane DR-1, ages 2 ~ 4

Red Baron Tri-Plane DR-1, Blueprints w/Assembly Guide, 27” wingspan, optional rocker design

Designed for the 1-3 year old pilot, the RED BARON (FDR-1) is just the kit to being your squadron. This foot to floor powered Tri-plane is modeled after the famous Fokker DR-1 fighter of WW 1. Quick to build, this sidewalk flyer will be a big hit around the local playground for more than one season.

Scaled down for the young flyer, and with their very sturdy wood construction, our full line of foot to floor powered planes are sure to please. The full sized patterns of the DR-1 show two wingspans, one for the hanger (indoors) and a larger span for the flight line (outdoors.) Of al our Scooter Pursuits designs the DR-1 is the one most to scale. The blueprint also shows how to build this kit as a static display for decoration and other uses - like a really neat mailbox! (No one will ever say "I could not find your house." when you have this mail stopper.)

The P-51 Mustang design story begins in early 1940. The British RAF, during the early day of World War ll, contracted North American Avaition to build P-40 Kittyhawks. The North American people ("Dutch" Kindelberger") bulked at the idea and convinced the RAF to build an all new design. The outcome of that desision was Americans best fighter of the war. Maybe even the best propeller fighter ever.

Sidewalk Flyers has brought to you the most complete pedal plane ever made available for builders and contractors. At the outbreak of WWll and the bombing of Pearl Harbor the Curtiss "Hawks" (P-40) and the Bell "Airacobra" were the only modern U.S. fighter planes available for mass production. The P-40 had been flown with success by the American Volunteer Group (AVG), known as the "Flying Tigers".

Contracted by the Chinese Government these American Pilots flew for the thrill and good pay offered by the AVG. They learned many attack and defensive moves to allow the P-40 to be completive with the Japanese "Zero". The rugged P-40 survived this conflict and was a major contributing fighter plane in the Pacific, North Africa, and Europe for the balance of the war.

Our P-40 Kiddyhalk Jr. pedal plane is a mini-replica of that famous design. We have added as much detail as possible in such nab small size. We have even added the famous "Flying Tiger" Sharks Mouth design for you to use during the painting phase of the construction. It is all of the small details that make this design a winner, and a toy that your young pilot will be proud to fly in the driveway or down the sidewalk.
