CONCRETE, WASHINGTON PREPS FOR
22ND ANNUAL FLY-IN
Concrete, WA – For the past 21 years, the Concrete airport advisory committee and the town of Concrete has hosted a summer fly-in. Catering mainly to homebuilts, antiques, classics and warbirds, the event also attracts a significant number of GA aircraft. The local Short Wing Piper Club holds their annual get-together concurrently. Last year 150 airplanes participated in the three-day event. This year’s fly-in is set for July 25, 26, and 27. There is no registration fee and pilots are encouraged to camp by their aircraft for the duration of their stay. The local pilots’ lounge has shower and bathroom facilities. There is one motel in the area called the Cascade Lodge.
Organizers have kept the fly-in low key and uncomplicated. It is simply an opportunity for pilots to gather, stand around and talk about aviation or make fly bys. The field is home to a number of fascinating homebuilts and meticulously restored antiques and classics which are put on show during the fly-in. The Skagit Aero Museum is also open to visitors throughout the weekend. The Fly-In has also become a destination for antique automobile collectors.
