Use this battery to take your GDL 39 or GDL 39 3D on the go so you don't have to plug it into your cigarette lighter receptacle in your vehicle or airplane. |
Works as advertised. Information on loading software updates is somewhat confusing. Although the unit with its battery can sit in place without being attached to the aircraft there is enough of a jolt from engine startup in my Champ to move the assembly slightly. In-flight, there is no problem. When operating on battery the unit does not turn off unless the battery is momentarily detached.
I carry a GDL39 for safety as a backup device. Having the battery power insures it will work if power fails in the aircraft. Coupled with my Garmin 696 from Spruce, I have a good portable avionics solution. It can be carried to other planes when I rent also. Spruce is so fast and reliable, that I count on them every year for parts.
