Reviews

The title should be Comprehensive Reference Guide to Ancient Airfoils. Copyright 1982 but airfoil plots are dated 1919 to 1936. There is almost no discussion, but just plots of the airfoil, L/D, coefficient of lift, coefficient of drag, plotted against AOA. Airfoils from 5 countries are listed. Instead of this, I would recommend starting with Harry Ribletts GA Airfoils which is $19 and updated in 1988. The clearly written General Aviation Aircraft Design by Snoori Gumundsson published in 2014 is far better, but is pricey at $140 for its 1033 pages. This book is very practical, and lists in tabular form good airfoils and how to choose the best one for your design in that 65 page section.
