The solution seems to work very well, I put a clear coat finished on the pieces that I cleaned and they look good.

The clear alternative to Alodyne 1201. In our operation we dip the parts to be processed. Color change on aluminum is almost negligible, so if you want protection for natural aluminum parts this is the product. Down load the data sheet at Spruces web site and you will find the mix ratio is 4 to 1 which makes it quite economical.

Apply directly to surface. Metal wont change color much. But protects surface. Wont damage anodized surfaces either.

Product performed as expected & received in good condition. The only thing I would suggest, is if a product is not stocked or out of stock & has to be brought in from a supplier, informing the customer of a delivery date should be done, I had to telephone to find out the date the expected delivery to your warehouse was.

Q&A

Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Q: Is this product a one step treatment for aluminum?

This (part number 09-01628) is an Alodine coating which helps with protection before priming, and helps the primer adhere to the surface. The aluminum will first need to be etched prior to applying Alodine. AlumiPrep 33 (part number 09-01621) is an etch commonly used.

Q: After etching it and applying Alodine, can I Clear Coat right on top with no issues?

An epoxy primer is commonly used after the alodine, then the top coat. Depending on the area and type of clear coat being used, it may work, but we recommend contacting the clear coat manufacturer to verify it will work for each unique application.

Q: What is the difference between Alodine 1001 and Alodine 1201?

The Alodine 1001 dries clear, and the Alodine 1201 is tinted so you can visually see where the material has been applied.

Q: Can Alodine 1001/1201 be used without a top coat and provide long term corrosion protection? Example would be to treat the wing ribs and other aluminum small parts.

This is not recommended for long term protection as the rain or any water/liquid sprayed onto this will wash it off.

Q: Does Alodine 1001 need diluting? If so, by what formula?

The tech data sheet is available for review in the document tab of our web page. Alodine is diluted with water at a one to one ratio for a brush on application, and 25:75 for immersion method. See TDS for details.

Q: Is Bondrite 1001 able to be brushed on?

It is either sprayed on the surface or the the part is immersed in the product. The tech process does not show brushing as an approved application.
