Reviews

Excellent product they looked plastic on line but aren’t. They seem to be very high quality I’m using them on a Yamaha jet boat and shipping was super fast fast. Will definitely deal with Aircraftspruce again.

The female threaded ends of this fuel filter are are advertised as 1/8” NPT, but the brass 1/8” NPT barbed fittings I purchased to install on this do not fit without extreme difficulty, rendering their use impossible. As I purchased this filter to replace a nearly-identical unit which seems to share the exact same female threads, I did an experiment to see if one of the NPT brass fittings I had would indeed thread in to the old filter (and therefore the new one). The fittings would not thread in more than 1/4 turn into each filter by hand, and I could not wrench them in farther than halfway to where they should rightfully be without having to use what I’d describe as extreme force. I worried that the fuel filter body would crack if I tried to tighten the fitting any further. The male fitting’s threads were shaved off in the process. To me, this is unacceptable for airplane use. On the plus side, the plastic barbed fittings included with the fuel filter fit without any difficulty. I’m a bit disappointed that I‘m not able to install the brass fittings I purchased onto this and will have to resort to plastic. Although it is advertised as 1/8” NPT, it is most definitely not usable without further use of an NPT tap.

Thought of sharing - Less than 20hours on this filter and I got mogas from a local esso gas station during a cross country flight. The filter clogged resulting in power loss on second takeoff. Filter looked clean visually but when taken out, I couldnt even blow through it. Looks like the ethanol in fuel melted and blocked the filter mesh. Switching to bronze filters for now.

I had this filter in my plane, engine was loosing power many times last year, I cleaned the filter every time and its looked clean, but at last I could not blow trhough it. I use mogas, last years ethanol has been increased in the fuel I changed to one with copper mesh and problem solved

Q: P/n 1505826. -What fitting size fits into the end of this fuel filter? Is the screen element metal, plastic or paper?

The unit has female 1/8-NPT on each end to thread in the fittings. The screen frame looks to be plastic, but the screen itself looks to be a fabric mesh. The package does not identify the material of the filter.

Q: Is the external tube glass or plastic on this universal in-line fuel filter? Part # 15-05826

The external tube on this filter is glass.

Q: Can this filter be used firewall forward?

This universal in-line filter is for experimental use only and is not rated for firewall forward applications.

Q: What is the total length of this universal fuel filter including the 5/16 fittings?

The total length of this filter is 3-3/8".

Q: Part # 15-05826. Are the female ends truly 1/8 NPT? The ones sold at auto parts are 3/8-24 (not NPT).

Yes. They are 1/8 NPT.

Q: can this in line filter be used on inboard engines or just outboards

We do not have any data showing this for marine use. We supply it for aviation applications.

Q: What is the outer diameter for the filter?

1" od on the clear portion, 1-1/8" on the metal ends.

Q: Is the filter element reusable?

No the element is not replaceable.

Q: Where do I get the replacement filter elements?

The element is not replaceable, so you will need to purchase a new unit once it needs to be replaced.
