This control lock is easy to install and positively locks the ailerons and elevator of the Pipersport and SportCruiser only.
Gust lock is manufactured using 6061T3 aluminum.
The control stick clamping portion has a protective sleeve to prevent damage to special control handles.
The latching mechanism is tow locking buttons that cannot come loose until released by the pilot which insures the owners that their ailerons and elevators are safe from wind damage.
The control lock is red anodized with a "Remove Before Flight" decal, and each unit comes complete with instructions in a 4" x 4" x 12" box.
Easy to install is a bit relative as you need to drill holes in the semi-rounded part of the bottom of your aluminum instrument panel. Getting those holes started on the flatportion was a challenge. I had to use a titanium brad bit to get it started. You also need to get a small nut into that groove under the panel and its pretty fiddly. Not plug and play here. Also, the photos in the instructions didnt match the switch configuration of my PiperSport so I had to drill the holes a bit closer together. This wasnt a problem in the end. I havent parked outside yet and used it on a windy day but I think it will work pretty well. it is light weight and easy to put on and remove.
Good concept, but unless you have a straight/cylindrical grip itââs difficult to get it to work. I have a pistol grip on my rv7 and it wouldnât accommodate the push to talk switch. I tried to shape the grips but they cracked. I ended up making my own. Seems a bit over priced as well. Rick
