Overview

The FAST FIND 220A PLB is a simple, lightweight, and floatable distress beacon that comes with a buoyancy pouch. This device relies on the 406 MHz frequency to transmit the user's unique ID and precise GPS location to the global satellite network. Within minutes search and rescue services (SAR) are alerted and continue to receive regular position updates. Once within range, rescuers can then home in on the beacon's second signal, a 121.5 MHz transmission, and find the user.

Q&A

Q: What does the USA suffix or Canada suffix refer to with the FastFind 220's on Aircraft Spruce’s website?

The suffix refers to whom we can sell the product to. If you are a citizen of the USA, you would get the USA model. This PLB would still work world-wide, but it must be registered in the United States. We can also sell this PLB to Canadian Citizens with the CAN version.

Q: Are the batteries replaceable and if so, what type/size?

The battery for the Mcmurdo Fastfind 220 PLB (11-11997) are not replaceable and must be sent to the manufacturer for service.

Q: What is the difference between the 210 and the 220. Is it just the flotation pouch?

The 220 is the replacement for the 210. Other than the flotation pouch the items are very similar.

Q: For this distress beacon FastFind 220 PLB you have two suffix USA and Canada. I live in France, Im a professional I sell products in the aeronautics, I wanted to know if I buy you several FastFind 220 PLB USA is what I could register in France with CNES national center tag recordings.

No, USA and Canada models are registered with the Search and Rescue authorities in those respective countries. Though they function anywhere in the world, they must be registered in the country of residence.
