Evaluating your own avionics needs is not always easy. What you need now, and what you will need in the future can be quite different. It comes standard with a sunlight-readable, anti-glare LCD screen specifically suited for the cockpit environment.

Start with the Sport
Every Sport SX is able to display primary flight, moving map/navigation and graphical engine monitoring data with optional sensors. Four serial ports provide interfaces to all popular avionics, and an optional ARINC 429 adapter allows full interfacing with equipment such as Garmin GNS430/530/GTN750. Combining more than one SX in your panel provides more than just redundancy…it provides an integrated system, and when both units include an AHRS (attitude and air data sensor) they perform cross-checks between them and will alert you if differences were to develop.
Choose your Options
Prefer an 8.4" screen over the standard 6.5"? We have the options you need. Adding synthetic vision gives you more than an artificial view of the terrain, lakes, waypoints, runways, obstacles and more…it upgrades to a high-speed processor with advanced graphical capability and ups the serial ports to 5 in and out. Autopilot? Yes…and it will impress with its accuracy and smoothness, and coupling to much more than just the flight plan. (See the autopilot section for a full description.) The Sport SX can be ordered with or without an internal AHRS and GPS…an especially useful option for multiple screen installations. As of May 1, 2013, new SX systems come standard with internal GPS and upgraded processor.
Installing the Sport SX requires little more than mounting the display and the magnetometer. Included with your Sport SX is a pre-wired harness. Connect power and ground, and the serial data connections to your other avionics, and turn on the power. You will marvel at the degree of integration provided by the EFIS as you see it tune your SL30/40, send altitude data to your transponder, and control your optional autopilot servos. External GPS is welcome, or use the internal GPS option. Want weather? ADS-B? TIS Traffic? Yes…we support that! Worried about wiring it yourself? Don’t be. The EFIS is protected so that you can not damage it by wiring it incorrectly, and expert help is always a phone call or e-mail away. No, all certified aircraft must purchase EFIS systems from a certified avionics shop.
No, the SX-OPT-GPS is for older Sport EFIS units or for S100 MFDs to provide an internal GPS signal for ground track and moving map in lieu of an external GPS unit. The S200 series includes this internal GPS. ADS-B in requires an external ADS-B receiver that can output in the standard GDL-90 format. Most commercially available ADS-B receivers are capable of this, and would connect to the Sport SX either hardwired to the serial port, or over USB with a powered USB hub.
