Reviews

I purchased this tap wrench to replace an old one that finally broke. This was for my smaller taps from 2-56 to 1/4-20, and it works fine in this range. It is a General product, #164. It is well made with a nice finish and the jaws and threaded chuck work very smoothly. The handle can be removed but there is a small spring with a pin that keeps the handle from sliding out on its own. This can easily be lost, so be careful. I am very happy with the tool and it is much nicer than the one that broke (Craftsman). I think the price is fair.

The General brand 1/2 Tap Wrench I received did not hold a tap tightly. The tap wobbled in the Tap Wrench and was only held on the back corner of the tap. The jaws of the Tap Wrench did not clamp parallel, they did not hold the sides of the tap, they only held the back corner. I returned the Tap Wrench and Aircraft Spruce was great at quickly refunding my purchase price.
