Overview

Blush-free 207 Special Clear Hardener was developed for coating and fiberglass cloth application where an exceptionally clear, moisture-resistant, natural wood finish is desired. Blended with 105 Epoxy Resin, 207 Hardener will not blush or turn cloudy in humid conditions. Thin film applications roll out and tip off smoothly, requiring less sanding in preparation for finish coatings.

Professional and first-time builders like 207 Special Clear Hardener because it is reliable, easy to use, as does not blush. Three coats or more can be applied in one day without additional surface preparation. Fewer coats are required to fill fiberglass weave and in most cases, the final coating can be sanded the following day. Boats can be built faster. Builders also appreciate the excellent fiberglass wet-out characteristics achieved with 105 Resin/207 Special Clear Hardener, yet it won’t drain from vertical surfaces like the very slow curing, low-viscosity epoxies.

105/207 Epoxy has strong physical properties, so it can be used as a structural adhesive for gluing and laminating. It has excellent compatibility with paints and varnishes. An ultraviolet inhibitor in 207 Special Clear Hardener helps provide a beautiful, long-lasting finish when used with quality UV filtering varnish. 105/207 cures clear and colorless.

Reviews

Super easy to measure out using the mini pump kit (a must!) and mixes well, dries rock hard, and clear, flows good, used for glassing model rocket plywood fins, a great product!

Such an amazing product! Used this epoxy system to fibreglass the hull of a scale RC boat that Im scratch building. There is virtually no odour to this product compared to the polyester resins I have used in the past. The mini-pumps are the best dispensing system and so easy to use. I am sold and will continue using this product any time I need a great epoxy.

Q: What is the temperature rating for the West Systems 105/207 Epoxy System?

This system has a max Tg of 116 degrees Farenheit. For all other technical information, please see the Tech Data Sheet located in the "Documents" tab of this web page.

Q: Do West System components (either resin or hardener) require hazmat fees to ship?

The West Systems epoxy does not have a haz mat charge if shipped domestic USA ground service.

Q: Are these West System Epoxy Components suitable for fiber glass layup with bi-directional glass mat?

In general, epoxies are not recommended for use with fiberglass mat material. Uni or Bi directional woven cloth only.

Q: In respect to the 205 fast hardener, and the 206 slow hardener, what is the pot life?

The 205 hardener will have a pot life at 72F/22C: 9 to 12 minutes. The 206 hardener will have a pot life at 72F/22C 20 to 25 minutes.

Q: What is the shelf life of the 205 fast hardener, and the 206 slow hardener?

Shelf life foe the West Systems 105 system is as follows:

Store at room temperature. Keep containers closed to prevent contamination. With proper storage, resin and hardeners should remain usable for many years. After a long storage, verify the metering accuracy of the pumps. Mix a small test batch to assure proper curing.

Over time, 105 Resin will thicken slightly and will therefore require extra care when mixing. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles during storage may cause crystallization of 105 Resin. Warm the resin to 125°F and stir to dissolve crystals.

Hardeners may darken with age, but physical properties are not affected by color. If clear finishing, be aware of possible color shift if very old and new hardeners are used on the same project.

Q: When you put the 105 resin together with the hardener what becomes the kits shelf life?

If you mix the hardener and resin you have a working time of 10-15 minutes for the fast and 30-40 minutes for the slow. The resin and hardener have a shelf life of 3 years.
