I installed a plane power alternator new on my Cessna 150 and got about 900 hours on it before I started noticing my ammeter twitching like crazy. The ALT INP lamp kept flickering too at low RPMs. I called Hartzel and they suggested that the brushes on the alternator over time have worn down and what I was experiencing was brush bounce. I ordered the Brush Holder and got it replaced and it fixed the problem. Thankful to not have to buy an entirely new alternator, but still disappointed at how expensive the brush holder part itself was. But hey, everything in aviation these days is stupid expensive right? Good luck
