Garmin is changing the course of aviation yet again! Introducing the GTN 650XI. With more pixels, more processing power, more speed and performance, the GTN 650Xi system brings exciting new growth capabilities to the industry’s premier GPS/Nav/Comm/MFD platform.

Brighter, Faster, Sharper, Better
    Do-It-All Touchscreen
  • Intuitive touchscreen interface provides quick access to navigation, radio tuning, multifunction display features and more.
    Lightning-Fast Response
  • Powerful dual-core processors boost the GTN Xi series graphical display capabilities — with faster zooming, panning and map rendering on the display.
    High-Resolution Display
  • With almost double the pixel count of its predecessor, the GTN Xi series features wider viewing angles and one of the highest-resolution displays ever offered in this class of avionics..

Work Saving Ways to Tune and Display
    Multi-function Display
  • Supporting multiple inputs, the 4.9” display can put moving maps, terrain, traffic, weather, airport diagrams and more at your fingertips.
    Easy Data Entry
  • Use the on-screen QWERTY keyboard or traditional concentric knobs to enter frequencies, waypoint identifiers, routings and more.
    Tell It, Tune It
  • Available Telligence™ voice control technology helps reduce pilot workload by responding to hundreds of spoken commands with the press of a button on the yoke.
    Pinch, Swipe Gestures
  • A quick finger swipe lets you pan across the map display. Or use a smartphone-like pinch-to-zoom motion to scale up or down on any map, traffic or terrain page.

Q: Can I install a GTN 650 and GNS 420W so they will work together and crosfill information. Also, do they work with the same database subscription?

In upcoming Garmin 5.02 software update it will allow the GNS 420W to crossfill to the GTN 650 (and only that direction) and yes it is a separate database subscription.

Q: Does the Garmin GTN 650 come with the installation kit and tray?

The Garmin GTN 650 does come with installation kit and tray.

Q: Can I simply just replace my GNS 430 with the GTN 650 by just pulling the GNS 430 out of the tray and sliding the GTN 650 in its place?

The GTN 650 is not a slide in replacement for the GNS 430 nor is the tray the same.

Q: Is the Garmin GTN 650 or any of its components made in China?

No, to have a TSO you must manufacture all parts in the U.S.

Q: Regarding the GARMIN GTN 650 GPS / NAV / COMM SYSTEM: What areas are covered by the Americas database vs. the International Database? If you choose the Americas, can you update to the International later?

The Americas database includes North and South America. The international version covers every continent. You can update the database at any time.

Q: Will I be able to upgrade the GPS database on the Garmin GTN 650 to International after purchase? Currently the plan is to only use the plane in the United States but if I wished to take it overseas would that be available?

Yes, per Garmin, you can update the database at any time after purchase.

Q: Does the GTN-650 include a standard glideslope receiver? Does it support a standard CDI which includes glideslope position and status? If using the GPS receiver for an LPV approach, does the GTN-650 output vertical position to a glideslope-equipped CDI?

The GTN series supports glideslope CDI indicators. Vertical indications are displayed on a compatible CDI.

Q: Will the GTN 650 and GTX 345 installed together enable my 796 Garmin portable to receive traffic and weather?

Yes via the Bluetooth on the 796 and GTX 345.

Q: Does the Garmin GTN-650 come with a Software Loader SD Card, to allow firmware updates and system configuration? If not, how is this obtained? What is the cost?

The GTN 650 includes a data card. Database information will have to be obtained from a Garmin installing dealer.

Q: Is the external cooling fan shown in the Installation Manual (Table 3-13 and Figure E-2) included with the purchase of GTN-650?

Yes, a cooling fan is included with the unit.
