| SCC1224-AA-S5: 12V/24V Controller w/20 Watt Solar Panel Battery Charger optimizes all solar panels charge rates. It actively monitors your battery's voltage any time the sun is up. The internal program adjusts its output several times a second based on this reading to quickly and correctly charge your battery. When used as a maintainer, the BatteryMINDer® is guaranteed to maximize your battery’s life and storage capacity. The long-term float (maintenance) stage can add years of service. This solar battery charger/maintainer/desulfator prevents over/under charging. It also safely extends the life and performance of all batteries. Solar battery charger SCC1224-AA-S5 works with 12/24V Concorde Aviation Batteries. |

GOOD: - does the job it advertises - straightforward setup - light, thin solar panel BAD: - never switches into maintenance mode on a Concorde 35 battery - not weatherproof should be rated to an IP67 or similar environmental rating people buy these to leave connected and outside on tied-down aircraft for extended periods - no 15 amp fuse on positive connection to battery - no built-in connector on solar panel connection would be nice to leave charger in aircraft and simply disconnect solar panel - two-box setup is silly the status box should be integrated into the charger box - a reinforce flat-cable option is required for one to be able to close a luggage compartment door on the cable without damaging it DESIRES: - direct charging voltage and current readouts - a statement on how much parasite current it pulls from battery when connect but solar panel isnt receiving enough light (how much does it drain the battery when not charging?) - a detailed breakdown in the manual between the various submodels...why is there a Gill version and a Concorde version? Do they have different current-voltage-time charging schedules?
