Aeroshell Oil W 15 W 50 is a premium semi-synthetic multigrade ashless dispersant oil specifically developed for aviation piston engines. AeroShell Oil W 15 W 50 is a special blend of a high quality mineral oil and synthetic hydrocarbons with an advanced additive package that has been specifically formulated for multigrade applications.
The combination of non-metallic anti-wear additives and selected high viscosity index mineral and synthetic base oils, give exceptional stability, dispersancy and anti-foaming performance. The advanced additive package in AeroShell W 15 W 50 provides excellent protection to engines operating at extreme ambient temperatures. The ashless anti-wear additive package provides exceptional wear protection for camshafts and lifters and other wearing surfaces.
AeroShell 15W50 has become very popular amongst engine manufacturers and operators alike. In order to cater for those Lycoming engines that need improved load carrying, the Lycoming LW 16702 antiwear additive has been incorporated into the formulation thus eliminating the need for supplemental additive addition
I got an email asking me to review my recent purchase, so here it is: Its oil, exactly as advertised. (Im not sure what else to write.)
Very good shipping and very convenient
Standard oil of nowadays.
Got it really fast
Good oil but Im not a fan of the new bottle. No longer can I pour straight from the bottle into the dipstick tube and have to use a funnel and carry one in the plane.
Prompt delivery and a reasonable price.
Seems to keep engine from making metal.
Ive been using 15w50 since I bought my PA-28 in 2002, and its been serving me well so far (including a lot of winter flying). It was convenient ordering the case of 6 from Aircraft Spruce, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Im trying to minimise my face-to-face contact with people (e.g. by walking into an FBO to buy a quart of oil). Shipping wasnt too expensive, and it came quickly.
No, Aeroshell oils do not contain Camguard out of the bottle. Camguard must be added to the oil if you wish to use it.
Yes, the oil is exactly the same. Aeroshell just changed their packaging from black to red.
Camguard is always optional. It is commonly used with 15w50 as standard 15w50 does not have an additive.
Yes, it does.
