  • AeroShell Oil W100 Plus and W80 Plus are the only single grade oils blended with this antiwear additive technology. That means that owners of Lycoming model engines, specified in the applicable service bulletin, don't have to add any supplemental additives to the oil.
  • AeroShell Oil W100 Plus and W80 Plus can be used in any certified engine, this includes: Lycoming; Continental; Pratt & Whitney radial and most radical, opposed or in-line engines.
  • AeroShell Oill W100 Plus and W80 Plus are not recommended for use in helicopter with a common sump for the engine and transmission. The anti-wear additives makes the oil more slippery than regular single grades. This can cause the transmission to slip. The product is not recommended for the breaking in of a new engine for the same reason.

  • Improved anti-wear characteristics particularly at engine start-up and eliminates the need for supplemental additives required by certain Lycoming engines. AeroShell Oil W100 Plus and W80 Plus already contain the Lycoming additive LW 16702 in the correct proportions and meets Lycoming requirements as well as the US Federal Aviation Authority Airworthiness directive 80-04-03.
  • Promotes Engine Cleanness. The non-ash forming, polymeric additive was developed to help eliminate the harmful combustion chamber and spark plug deposits that form during normal operation.

The oil is good however I dislike the new bottle shape. With the old shape I could add a quart in without spilling a drop. Now I need a funnel and it drips. This is the worst shaped quart container I have ever used.

Aeroshell oil for sure deserves a 5 stars review, but the latest repackage just made it almost impossible to pour it into the engine without a funnel. They virtually eliminated the bottles neck. You cannot even use the the spout that Phillips gives for free in every oil case. It seems like the non-aviation people took over the aviation department at Shells.

Q: I operate a Lycoming O-360 in tropical climat. Temperatur up to 100F. Humidity exeeding 90%. Is Aeroshell W100 SAE50 PLUS the right oil? Should I add Camguard Additive?

Yes, this oil will be fine in that environment and it is recommended that you add CamGuard.

Q: Is Aeroshell Aviation Oil W100 Plus a synthetic oil?

No, it is not a synthetic oil.

Q: The last case of Aeroshell W100 plus came in black plastic bottles. The new case i just bought has red containers. It also says it is a mineral Ash dispersant oil. It never used to say mineral before. Is this the same oil, or is it an engine break in oil?

It is the same oil as before. The only thing that changes is the packaging. All AeroShell oils will be switching to the new, red packaging.

Q: Will using CamGuard degrade the Aeroshell plus oil? Will CamGuard add extra protection for Aeroshell 100 plus?

Per Vendor: CamGaurd will enhance any oil that you put it in. There are very few additives actually in 100+ oil. CamGaurd has 11 different components.

Q: I am looking for Aeroshell fluid 2F. Do you sell this product?

Aeroshell 2F fluid has been superceded to the new 2XN fluid. The 2XN can be found under our part # 08-14701.

Q: The specification of the Aeroshell W100 Plus says Lycoming owners do not need to use additives with this oil. Does that mean I do not need to add the Lycoming LW-16702?

No, it will not need the Lycoming LW-16702 added as it already has a cleaning additive in the oil. That is the benefit between the W100 Plus and the W100 regular.
