Part# 05-11842
MFR Model# 200C10-2
DescriptionPart No.

The Door Steward is an STC and FAA-PMA approved modification for aircraft doors. The modern gas spring greatly improves and replaces easily broken, malfunctioning mechanical type door stops and restraints that become ineffectual with repeated use and age. Pilots enjoy the fact that the Door Steward gently opens and firmly holds the door open. The Door Steward consists of a modern inert gas spring with all the necessary brackets and hardware. Detailed installation instructions are included and make it easy to install and requires virtually no maintenance. Model 200C10

  • With the Door Steward the door will open and stay open when needed
  • No more door flopping around in wind gusts or prop wash from taxiing aircraft
  • The cost is usually much less than repairing or replacing existing OEM door stops
  • Great on float equipped aircraft when water taxiing.
  • FAA Approved on many single and light twins.

  • Fits Cessna 170,172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 205, 206, 207 and 210(nonpressurized)

I installed these in my C182 about 7 years ago. They have served their purpose well and flawlessly for many years averaging two trips a month with fuel stops. They continue to work well and softly open the doors saving strain on both the door frame and the door stop, even in strong winds. I am pleased with these and several of my friends who also have C182s have installed them with similar results.

We purchased one of these for the Right Hand side of our R182. It works as advertised and is helpful with passengers who do not know how light weight aircraft doors are on our sometimes windy tie down. We were surprised our shop billed us four hours for the installation of a single unit when the installation video we watched produced by an A&P estimated 40-45 minutes, so expensive lesson learned there.

The Door Steward is fantastic! I wish I would have bought this years ago. Installation is super easy, especially after watching the video.

When I got the aircraft I had to replace the left wing strut because the door had been hitting it for some time due broken door stay and had worn a groove beyond limits in the Strut. These have replaced the door stay and work perfectly .

These Door Stewards work great! They hold the doors open, you don’t have to worry about a gust of wind closing the door while your getting in and out of the airplane. They work much better than the factory door stops.

Excellent addition for any aircraft. Have installed on 3 thus far. Greatly enhances ingress/egress.

Q: Hello, is the Door Steward sold as a set (LH/RH)? Francisco

Yes, these units are priced and sold as a pair. (left hand / right hand)

Q: Can these be installed by the owner under preventive maintenance or does an A&P have to install?

This installation does not qualify as preventive maintenance. It is an FAA-STC product that will require an A&P with IA authorization to sign the FAA Form 337 after installation. The installation is not complicated and the A&P may allow the owner to install, but the A&P would still have to inspect and sign off the installation.

Q: Does the gas spring easily release from the ball if I want to remove the door?

Yes, there is a safety clip that is installed to prevent accidental disconnects. If the clip is removed the gas springs pulls directly off the ball studs.

Q: Concerning Door Steward part number 05-00922. Does include both left and right unit?

Yes, part # 05-00922 is a kit of both left and right.

Q: What is the force in pounds for the gas spring? Would like to insure that the door hinges are not put into an unncessary strain.

Per Vendor: That is rather propriety to the STC data package. The all of the loads and stresses were all evaluated by an FAA Designated Structures Engineer and a detailed report submitted to the FAA for approval. You can assure the potential customer that there are not any undo stresses. If the client is a member of Cessna Pilots Association their forums have discussed the Door Steward installation many times over.

Q: How much does the Door Steward Cessna Left & Right door kit weigh?

Approx 1.4 lbs.

Q: Which part number is the Door steward for a Cessna 175?

Part # 05-00922 is our part number for both the left and right stewards for your aircraft.

Q: Can this be used for a Piper PA-28 Cherokee? The STC says it can..

You would want our part number 05-03574 for a Piper application.

Q: What is the correct Door Steward part number for a Cessna 172N?

05-00922 is correct for a set of both left and right. 05-11841 is the left and 05-11842 would be the right.
