|Aeroquip 491 and 471 hose fittings consist of an AN818 style nut, an externally threaded 37 nipple and an internally threaded hose socket. Fittings of sizes 3 through 6 have nuts and nipples of cadmium plated steel. Nuts and nipples for size 8 and larger are of anodized aluminum. Fittings conform to MS24587.|
As others have noted, easy to install, especially if you first look at EAA video on how to. The mandrel for the size you want is a little expensive but very necessary. No can do without the correct size mandrel.
Sent the wrong fittings. 471 fittings were incorrectly marked as 491 fittings and those were sent. Big wait getting that resolved.
Great project part for student projects.
Easy to assemble.
This is a great item to use. Steel fitting and aluminum hose sleeve. I used a steel plug and a ratchet to thread the fitting into the hose. I also used oil to help with the threading into the hose. Once it has set for a few days it is almost impossible to un-thread the fitting. I did once and ripped the hose off the end that was in the vice and then I was able to reuse the fitting. Just the hose was now too short.
Great for making new hoses for repairs. Be sure to get the mandrel to install these.
The tube size is in reference to the O.D. of the hard line the 303 hose, & 491 fitting, is replacing.
