Reviews

I use this to wipe down the outside of my Pilatus. I dilute heavily like 30:1. If you don’t dilute it enough it will smear and leave streaks. It does a great job with the exhaust residue, but I do wax my aircraft about every 50 hours.

Q: Does the Granitize XG5 hard surface cleaner strip the wax?

The XG5 cleaner in most cases is not going to immediately strip wax chemically, but there are variables to take into account.

1. Depends on the amount of wax on surface, how long it has been on it, if multiple layers over time.
2. The longer XG5 sits on substrate it will gradually break down many waxes.
3. Using at full strength with higher degree of agitation is going to remove some or all of wax on surface.
4. Diluting additionally with water – 2:1, 3:1, etc. will reduce solvent content and possibility of removing wax if that is of concern.
