Hello, here is a recent review -June 2021. This is an amazing unit encompassing 9 instruments in one. Easy to set up, great graphics, easy to install, extremely lightweight and user friendly. I’ve evaluated Garmin products and have a few thousand hours with Garmin and in my opinion (12K hours and counting) is the same quality with an amazing lower price than big name avionic brands. For LSA & Experimental only though and I’m going to buy a second for additional peace of mind. The graphical RMI/HSI is better than any civil or military aircraft I’ve flown, and has capability to use both needle 1 (HSI) and needle 2 (RMI) for not only VOR or NDB but Airports too. You can have each on an separate airport or any combination of airport, VOR or NDB. Too, Avmap at some point added IAS and ALT to the graphical RMI page and this is great for situational awareness as a backup. Too it gives detailed info much more than a BDHI, RMI, HSI as the unit has its own GPS data combined so your awareness is very easy to see at a glimpse of common sense data vice clutter in competitors I’ve seen. This EFIS is great with added G meter (I wish it had a memory so you could know top positive and negative G during a flight but heck it’s great as is). Readout for all data both pages is well placed and like any solid piece of gear when you have a great product it shines above others. For the price, a no brainer! Easily adjust baro setting or brightness and takes a second to go from the EFIS PFD page to the RMI/HSI page. I Highly recommend this product! Outstanding!
AVMAP ULTRA EFIS
Works as advertised. Simple to install and use. I have not married it to a autopilot yet but is should work just fine. Brings piece of mind to me if conditions rapidly deteriorated to imc in my rv6 with the AHRS option. Hsi page good for navigation too.
Not yet installed (AC still under construction), but looking forward to this instrument as I have limited panel space and the AVMAP puts 9 instruments in one location. Tremendous!
I haveowned one of these since 2015. It has worked perfectly . No comparison for the price . Company is excellent re queries etc. Updated regularly.A really complete unit. GPS , art. Horizon, speed , wind ,G force.alt. Output for auto pilot ,Etc etc. Easy installation.
Very easy to install, removed faulty d.g. and put in its place. Took under 2 hrs. Very cool little unit, highly recommend! Love having mag heading or track. Nav, gmeter, upper winds etc all great toys
Ive only been using the product a couple of days, but so far Im fairly impressed. Very simple installation with good instructions. It is an Italian company that manufactures the unit, so there is some awkwardness with their English, but that is no problem. This unit presents a lot of information for a very reasonable price. If it proves to be reliable, then its one heck of a deal.
Have not yet gotten unit to work. Buyers should be aware this is an Italian company with no US tech support, and the entire company is currently on vacation for 2 weeks. Tech support is 15 hr time zone difference- very inconvenient. Features look great hope to be impressed if it can be functional.
Avmap recommends this EFIS as a backup instrument. It is not capable of driving an auto pilot as of 8/27/15.
No, you cannot. The Avmap Ultra is only approved for use in experimental aircraft. IFR GPS backup is not available. See part number 10-05081 for an approved backup attitude indicator.
