So, the great headset debate. First, I have never used Lightspeed. I own a Bose A20 for years and needed a new headset for my wife. She prefers the Bose and told me she would take that one. So I get to try out new headsets for me, and I was on the hunt yet again. I bought the David Clark DC One X ANR with Bluetooth. So I will compare them and in my mind share which one is better. Build quality: David Clark, they just seem more solid. Ear cushions: The Bose seem cheap and for me didnt last all that long, but the DC headset cushions seem nicer. Head clamping force: Bose is the winner, the DC clamps just a little bit more than the DC, but not much. The DC wins if you are wearing sunglasses under the headset though. Bluetooth: Booth pair easily, the Bose does it automatically after you set it up. The DC you have to turn on the Bluetooth every time you power it up. no winner, just what you prefer. Bluetooth sound quality: you like to listen to music in the air? The Bose has better quality music sound. Headset controllers: The Bose does not come with a holder for the controller. The DC does, it comes with a metal clip for your belt. I 3d print holders for them, I can easily find .stl files to print holders for either one. I mount them to my sidewall panel. Both controllers work well, they are both a little different but I dont have a preference. Headset bag: They both have a bag you can carry them in. The DC folds up into a smaller space than the Bose. Voice quality: Now the big difference. The ANR feature using the headset to hear other traffic and ATC. I have always had noisy airplanes. I have always struggled to hear ATC with ancient passive headsets. When ANR came along ANY headset was better. Even after I got the Bose I sometimes still have a hard time hearing controller voices. So, when I got the DC headset at first the music quality did not match the Bose so I was a bit disappointed until I got in the air with them on. ATC and traffic voices to me are noticeably better with the DC headset. Dead batteries: The Bose headset becomes almost useless if the batteries die. But the DC just sounds like an old passive headset so its the clear winner there. So, for me the David Clark One X, over the ear type with ANR headset is a keeper. My wife is happy with the Bose, and I love the DC One X. On top of that they are cheaper to buy!

Even without the ANR on, can hardly hear someone talking beside you. Comfortable and considerable improvement on my old ANR set.

When I began flying, I used the old military sit on the ear headset, which did little to reduce cockpit noise. When the first DC cup around the ear headset arrived, I was pleased with the noise reduction. Since then, I have tried two different brands of ANR headsets, the second because the first was stolen. I was not entirely pleased with the second one. I returned to the DC ANR headset and am happy I did: It is VERY comfortable, works well on noise attenuation, and packs into a smaller case - fits the bill for my many modes of flight. HIGHLY recommended!

Very comfortable, the old David Clarkes pinched my head. The Bose doesn’t feel right. Prox is super comfortable, and packs small. I wished for my old senhieser headset till I tried these on!

Rock solid headset. DC has always set the standard of which others follow or try to emulate. Others have more features --more stuff to go wrong during the rigors of daily use. DC headsets hold up over time and their customer support is without peer.

This is by far the best headset I’ve ever owned going from DC H10-13S to the DC One X, I find David Clark to be the top of the line in terms of quality and functionality in the aviation headset market. I have purchased, tested, and returned numerous headsets such as Light Speed Sierra’s, Bose A20’s and A30’s. Upon purchasing the DC One X I quickly found David Clark products to be far superior than any other in terms of comfort, sound quality, and ANR use in both quiet and loud cockpits. This is the only headset I will ever need through out my aviation career. David Clark is where it’s at.
