This three wire harness has four wires. It does not match the technical drawing posted here. Check carefully the pin outs from the gauge to the sensor, none of the wire colors make sense if you live in North America. For example, Black is power, and Red is Ground. The fourth wire of this three wire harness is yellow and connects to nothing.

No it will not.
The yellow wire is the shielding from from the harness. If you require a shield ground, the yellow wire is what is used.
