|This Tach Cap can be used to close off the tachometer drive of a Lycoming or Continental engine when an electronic tach drive is being used off the magneto or electronic ignition. 7/8" thread and Viton (R) O-ring to seal.|
Waaay too expensive. I think youre taking advantage of being one of the few people who carry this item.
Great cap, easy to install and lots of holes for safety wire.
We installed an Electronics International tachometer in a plane that we are rebuilding. We wanted to be certain that dirt couldnt enter through the now unused flex-cable drive so we ordered one of these caps. It is beautifully made and fits great. The only surprise was that EI provides a cap for this purpose. It isnt nearly as nice but would have done the job.
The one we received was made from anodized aluminum. Very nicely manufactured and finished.
The grip section for the wrench is small
This Item works fine, but honestly, too expensive!
Item arrived and was as advertised. Good quality and the AS price was the best I could find, and the part/pricing WAS hard to find - everywhere but here at AS. That said, this is a simple part and should not cost $20.00.
Good news: Nice clean way to seal off that tach drive boss on a Lycoming when you are not using it to drive your tachometer. Bad news: its quite expensive for a plastic molded part! It does have an o-ring seal in it to prevent oil leakage and lots of holes to safety-wire it.
The threadings for the tachometer cap will fit the IO470 Continental engine.
