A common problem with servicing spark plugs is carbon accumulation in the jug threads. Cleaning these threads regularly can save big money by preventing thread damage and the need to pull the jug and install thread inserts. This special designed tool works very well to limit this problem. It provides maximum depth penetration and its unique spring action assures that there will be no enlargement of the existing thread pitch diameter. The thread cleanout tool is for 18mm threads only. |

Highly recommended. I measured the threads of this tool to be within a thousandth or so of a new spark plug, so it much more easily threads into an existing hole which needs to be cleaned than the roughly 10 thousandths oversized ATS 20200 chaser. I had to replace the helicoil and almost destroyed a cylinder with the inferior ATS tool which can be tight enough that it fails to pull the chaser in on the initial thread and instead unstakes a Lycoming Helicoil. Furthermore, the 90 degree cross cuts on this tool enable it to clean better and also compress slightly to follow the insert rather than get freakishly tight or possibly get stuck in the hole like the ATS chaser. It will thread in full depth on even long reach plug holes on wide deck engines and comes with a great protective case. Dont risk ruining your engine using the ATS tool.
Good product! Took forever to arrive!

This one works. I bought the cheaper one, it worked, I lost it. I know. I bought another cheaper one, it cross-threaded the spark plugs threads, which Im pretty sure is a bug, not a feature. So I sprang the extra $20 and got this, and it works perfectly. Im sure theres a lesson in there somewhere, but I will probably never learn it. See the research of Dunning-Kruger. I tremendously enjoy the breath-taking view from Mt Stupid.
Easy to use, worked as described. Nice tool to have to clean out old anti-seize build up
