Reviews

There are two versions of this control lock device. One version fits the older bowtie control yokes. The other version features a longer strap designed to fit the newer horn style yokes. Be sure you are ordering the correct version for your needs. I was sent the wrong version. I contact Aircraft Spruce and advised them that they need to remove the photos showing the device used for the horn style yokes with the page advertising the bowtie style device. These two version are not compatible with each other. Aircraft Spruce really needs to improve their quality of communication in their website. What they should be doing is featuring one link to this product and providing a link for the purchaser to select his version of aircraft and thereby ensure the correct version is ordered. Judging by the one negative review, this miscommunication has harmed one other customer at least, and there is no need for this to happen further. This is not the fault of the vendor, but instead entirely upon Aircraft Spruce to fix.

Installed on a 1965 PA28-160. Good, simple instructions. Easy and quick to use.

Did not fit our PA28-236. Strap too short to connect both yokes. Would like to return, but return window has passed.

Q&A

Q: Considering the bowtie style gust lock for my PA28R-200. What is required to attach the connector to the throttle quadrant? Does this take an AP/I?

For the PA28R-200 would accept a Ram Horn Style control saver in which you can install the bracket yourself. Just remove the 2 existing screws, put the bracket in place and reinstall the screws. This will be the same installation for P/N# 13-15505 bowtie style.
