It’s a good card and works as you’d hope and expect without any tweaking. Even in folder GTNs.
Garmin Flightstream 510 Standard
The FlightStream card was easy to install and worked quickly upon install. This card is definetly meant for install in experimental avionics only though.
Garmin Flightstream 510 Standard
Arrived quicker than scheduled. Haven’t installed yet due to avionics not done.
Garmin Flightstream 510 Standard
Works as advertised. Easy install. Crazy expensive. Garmin is great at providing really good products, and then charging very high prices to buy additional services to make their great products fully functional. This is one example.
Garmin Flightstream 510 Standard
The FlightStream shipped with version 2.33 of the firmware, from 2017, three years behind the current version. You cant update the software without a dealer. Garmin needs to fix this.
I had a Flightstream 510 which failed. It was not warranted nor repairable by Garmin. It worked beautifully at first, but failed with no known cause. Hearsay suggests failure is common, which of course I cannot verify.
After paying $1500 for this and having it installed by a shop, I learned that to utilize the feature of wirelessly uploading your database, you have to pay for a Garmin Pilot subscription. I wouldn’t buy this thing if I had it to do again. Most of the functions of this I get through other means. Only thing unique it’ll do is transfer flt plan, but if you have a 750, it’s just as easy to enter it in there as it is to enter it on the iPad.
This is NOT required when using a GNC 355. Dont listen to the local avionics shop when it comes to this product.
Does not download via WiFi. Needs mobile broadband. Only downloads supplementary databases for GTN 650, not the rest of your Garmin panel. Doesnt transfer all the advertised data to Garmin Pilot (EIS/AHARS/Etc.) Aircraft Spruce support is crap. Dont buy this. If you do buy it through a avionics installer who stands by there product.

Yes, you can.
We can only sell this for experimental applications. For certified aircraft, this must be purchased by the certified Garmin avionics install shop doing the work.
Per the manufacturer, Foreflight is compatible for certain features such as ADS-B weather, traffic, AHRS, GPS and FlightPlan.
No, this is not compatible with the G1000. It is compatible with the GTN 650/750 as well as the Aera 660, 795 and Aera 796.
Per Garmin, no, you cannot use a single FS510 in multiple systems. It is locked to the system ID to which it is configured at setup.
This datacard carries a 2 year or 800 flight hour warranty from the date of purchase.
This can be used on both units.
