Overview

Radiant previews its new Taxi Camera, which includes a daylight brilliant high resolution 7” LCD display which folds into a case, and a flush mount camera.

When taxiing a taildragger aircraft, it provides excellent vision of what the pilot often can’t see: what’s straight in front of him. When in the air, bonus features appear. It provides a visual horizon, along with red cross hairs that help point directly to an intended touch-down spot.

Features

  • The Taxi Camera is a game-changer, providing improved visibility of what is ahead in the pilot’s blind spot. The additional capability provided by the display, while in flight, helps improve awareness as to whether the aircraft is level. Finally, the red cross-hairs are a game-changer for lining up a touchdown spot.
  • The display is bright, clear, and as brilliant as the outdoor sky. The best example of inflight usage is this extended unretouched video as James goes around the pattern and uses the red cross-hairs to help line-up with his intended touchdown spot.
  • An unretouched screen shot from the video shows the red cross-hairs as James lines up final approach:
  • Another video demonstrates the system on the ground, as James does a clearing 360 degree turn.
  • The included camera is diminutive and may be adjusted to any mounting position using a set-screw. It requires a ½” hole, along with connection to the aircraft’s power. The output of the camera connects to the system’s LCD display via a single cable.
  • The display is designed to mount on the flat top of an aircraft control panel.
  • Because of mounting considerations, this ground-breaking, radical new product is for experimental use only.
