The wipes are an excellent choice for cleaning chrome piston cylinders and struts. The wipes are presaturated with top of the line hydraulic fluid: Royco 782. Protect your personnel from hazardous hydraulic fluid until use with the three layer lamination foil packaging that eliminates vapor exposure emitted by hydraulic fluid. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when working with hazardous material.
The hydraulic pre-saturated wipes are lint and static free, made of 100% cotton cloth woven and finished without starch, binders, or any foreign substances. The cloth finish gives this wipe a softer and better dirt-trapping capacity. This wipe is pre-soaked with hydraulic fluid MIL-PRF-83282 and has incredible retention to minimize fluid drip.
Note: To be used on struts using MIL-PRF-83282 hydraulic fluid. (Royco 782)
Very handy for cleaning the struts on your airplane.
I am very impressed by this product. Purchased several of these to clean up some neglected struts. 1/3 of each (3 total) struts had caked/dried grease and dirt on it. These wipes held up to 30 minutes of scrubbing and scraping without a single tear and no leftover cotton residue. I could have cleaned all 3 struts with one wipe - ended up using two to ensure that I thoroughly cleaned up all of the mess. These certainly do the trick! One added bonus: the pouch that they come in is re seal-able. If you are using these to simply wipe down the struts after every flight, you can just put it right back in its pouch and re-use these a few times. Easily sold on these for maintaining my struts in a good condition - will buy again!
Worked surprisingly well on my TB-10. The oleos were filthy with that that dried honey like gum on the landing gear struts. I honestly did not believe that this simple pad would work so well. BUT IT DID. Even after this accumulation of dirt was removed the wipe is good for at least 1 or 2 reuses (I am cheap after all) and a 6X6 wipe put back in its resealable bag is good for months of use. I have a hanger however If I was outside in the dust I would use one every time I checked tire pressure, about every 6-8 weeks.
