Q: What is the travel length of the knob from full open to close?

Per manufacturer: There is no exact answer to this question. The knob will extend out as far as the connected arm allows it to actuate as this has a solid wire so the travel is controlled by the Min/Max movement of the arm it is attached to. This is a push to unlock control so the maximum it can be pulled out without losing the ball is 3.25".
