Not an exact replacement for the original style Prestolite, had to change length of 12 volt + lead, modify units accessory ears, re route engine oil cooler bracket to clear 12 volt terminal bolt. MAYBE A NOTE INDICATING THE POSSIBLE NEED TO MODIFY SUCH THINGS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN DESCRIPTION.
Do not use on a PA-28-140 it will put a hole in your oil cooler. If you do use this starter in that aircraft you must move the oil cooler over by at least 1/2 and make a new hole in the baffle for the oli cooler in its new position. I have had two aircraft come in with massive oil loss in flight due to the lack of clearance.
That is correct. The core charge is refunded when the old starter is returned.
