A great starter, has made my old girl feel like new aircraft with the way it turn over and starts now- I would recommend this over reconditioning an older starter unit on aircraft from an earlier era

My 1961 Cherokee 160 had all of the upgrades for battery cables, new battery, etc and still struggled to turn over. Finally, took a friends advice and ordered this starter. What a difference! The engine turns over easily and starts right up. If you are looking upgrade your starter for better cranking or need to replace the starter, I would recommend a high torque starter. Very satisfied!

Not an exact replacement for the original style Prestolite, had to change length of 12 volt + lead, modify units accessory ears, re route engine oil cooler bracket to clear 12 volt terminal bolt. MAYBE A NOTE INDICATING THE POSSIBLE NEED TO MODIFY SUCH THINGS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN DESCRIPTION.

Do not use on a PA-28-140 it will put a hole in your oil cooler. If you do use this starter in that aircraft you must move the oil cooler over by at least 1/2 and make a new hole in the baffle for the oli cooler in its new position. I have had two aircraft come in with massive oil loss in flight due to the lack of clearance.

Q: When I add this to my cart it charges me to the core too, once I send my old starter back will I get the core charge back?

That is correct. The core charge is refunded when the old starter is returned.

Q: What is the voltage drop or current draw for this 122-NL model?

Voltage must be a minimum of 11 volts for the starter to function. In-rush current would be approximately 190 amps and continuous current approximately 90 amps.

Q: Does this 122-NL starter require a separate starter solenoid or is it built into the unit?

This does require an external solenoid.
