LOCK OPEN OIL DRAIN VALVES
Changing hot engine oil has never been easier! With the SAF-AIR oil drain valve, no wrench is needed to remove the drain plug. A simple push and turn of the SAF-AIR valve locks it in the open position. The valve is made completely from anodized aluminum and stainless steel components. These materials are used throughout the aircraft industry due to their strength and durability. FAA & PMA APPROVED.
so far so good. installed and working well. this replaced an old drain i had. I like the barbed nipple which should hold the hose quite well.
I got the F6250, very well made, very happy with it.
Although the application list calls out the proper engine application, it doesnt cover airframe applications. This part dose not fit the Cessna 310. The part protrudes below the cowling preventing the access cover to close.
The P5000 just screws in to the bottom of my Lyc O-320 oil pan - no crush gasket is required. Fortunately a small package of thread sealant is provided, hence about all one needs is a 1 box end wrench and some safety wire. I replaced the previous 12 year old P5000 as it was starting to leak. It was probably just carbon or something fouling the O ring seals and I guess can be cleaned off however SAF-AIR suggests a ten year in service life, and does not sell new O rings. As such, a new one is probably the best bet as opposed to attempted rebuilding.
Leaking oil past crush washer. Replaced crush washer, and still leaking. Looks like the washer slips because the neck is too small to keep it centered.

Great product however the PMA list is incorrect. The S6250 does not fit on the IO-470-C as the oil pick up screen is to close to the drain hole to operate the valve. I called the manufacture and they suggested the F62. I gave the product 4 stars which would have been 5 if the PMA list was correct... Because I also have used the S6250 in many E185/E225 engine accessory case drains and it works perfect. Thanks, MattJ

Ive got one of these installed on my A65 Champ 7AC - it works great and Im very happy with it.
Per the Application Chart in the "Overview" tab of this web page, the recommened oil drain valve for the TSIO-360FB engine is S6250 (our part number 06-00637). We recommend you always check your currenlty installed valve to verify correct replacement.
2 each of AN6227B-6 and 1 each of AN6227B-7 are the replacement o-rings for the valve.
Drain valve S6250 requires qty 2 AN6227B-6 and qty 1 AN6227B-7 o-rings, and qty 1 AN900-10 copper crush gasket for installation.
The P5000 has o-rings installed at the factory, and has 1/2"NPT threads to install in the sump. No other o-rings are required for a new installation.
If the engine was produced after mid 2015 it will have the late model tank.
Approx 2.625 inches total length.
You will not need a separate fitting as the valve already has a nipple hose connection attached to it.
It does come with the crush gasket and the replacement would be an AN900-7.
This measures 2" from top of the nut to the end of the nipple. The widest part of this unit is 15/16".
