This is very easy to install during oil change. The wattage is actually about 150 watts so I dont believe there is any risk to the oil being cooked as some have suggested. So far its great and I would recommend.
Anti-Splat No Hassle Engine Pre-Heater
I have had the anti-splat heater in my IO540 for 2years and about 50 hrs of use with it. I had a small leak that I needed to take care of yesterday. After loosening the unit, it would not drop down from the engine. After about 45 minutes I was able to finally get it removed by SLOWLY twisting and turning the unit. Looking at the unit after removal there is a large build up of carbon on the heating element which was larger than the threaded opening. Now I am dealing with removing the carbon that was dislodged while removing the unit. 35hr oil changes, Aeroshell w100. I will not be installing the unit do to this problem. I will contact the manufacture
I have had the anti-splat heater on my IO540 for approximatly 2 year
