I replaced my existing FT60 transducer due to erroneous readings. It would drop to zero for several minutes then begin reading again. The replacement works the way it should.

The right part at a fair price.

In any fuel flow operating system, the EI series fuel flow cubes are as close to plug and play that you can get. A bit more expensive, but easy to install and electronically set up. Just keep the fuel lines fairly straight for a few inches per the instructions and it will work. I even use the EI FT60 in the return line of the Rotax 912S as it is quite accurate even at such a low return fuel flow rate.

These unit work great (until they dont)! Ive had serial reliability problems with these units. Three out of four have failed at less than 1,000 hours into the 10,000 hour advertised MTBF. The 10,000 hours might be accurate in a laboratory environment, but they dont make 10,000 hours in a flight environment. If they did, theyd almost never need to be replaced. Wiring can be an additional issue with the solid wires breaking at the connector, but that can be remedied easily by tying the connectors together so they cant vibrate at a different frequency/magnitude from the wires.

First one lasted 600 hours the replacement 40 hours, Fortunately EI support is excellent and they replaced last one under warranty since it was less than 1 year old. When they worked they were always very accurate. For me, when they fail they do it suddenly. Would be 5 stars if it was anywhere near the published 10000 MTBR!

Received and installed in place of unit that died after 33 hours into its 10,000 MTBF that EI doesnt support. So far, this replacement is working. Lets see how long this one lasts.

The sending unit works well when it works, but it seems that I have to clean it out on a yearly basis.

The first one I bought lasted 6 years with about 400 hours of use. E.I. publishes the useful life as 10,000 hours, but warranty is only 1 year. Ive seen other users report only 400 hours as well. This was located on the firewall, 34 from the exhaust, installed pricesly according to the instructions. Was quite accurate measurement though.

Installing my third unit in 600 hrs. Just a little less than the 10000 mtbf that they advertise. Probably get that in a comfy lab. Seems like it isnt robust enough to survive in a engine compartment environment. Gotta have it though....

Nowhere near the MTBF of 10,000 hours, even 1000 hours would have been acceptable. The second to the last worked for a few hundred hours and then became unusable due to increasing flow rate error (sometimes high, sometimes low). The next one worked for 200- 250 hours and then completely went dead with no output signal. Now on third one in four years, they manage to break right after warranty period. The transducers are placed near air inlet so lead a pretty easy life as far as thermal stress. The actual cost on these runs about 75 cents an hour, at that rate we actually needed to explicitly build them into the operating cost. Also, the 12 cable is worthless and always leads to an extra connection or splice. For the extra few dollars it would cost, EI should put on a decent length cable of at least 36.

Personally, I think I should be getting more than 350 hours out of one... Its accurate when it works, but fails too quickly.

Worked without flaw for 18.1 hours (Just shy of minimum 10,000 advertised). No issues with external wiring. Contacted company who got me to check absolutely everything and report specific results. All confirmed no issues with wiring or fuel computer. After insisting there can be no internal issues with the sender, I was told I can send it back at my own expense to be repaired at a minimum cost of 70 dollars even if nothing is done to it. I elected to take the loss and purchase a different brand of sender, which has worked without issue since.

Easy to Install . Installed a new one. Last 3 hours. Bought a new one again , and lets see how long last this.
