AIRGIZMOS UNIVERSAL GUST LOCK

July 16, 2022

Dont have control locks on my flyer, so these are a great alternative to help prevent the wear and tear caused by gusts. Pretty simple to use although it took me some time to figure them out. Light enough to keep in the plane and take with you.

Q&A

Please note, Aircraft Spruce's personnel are not certified aircraft mechanics and can only provide general support and ideas, which should not be relied upon or implemented in lieu of consulting an A&P or other qualified technician. Aircraft Spruce assumes no responsibility or liability for any issue or problem which may arise from any repair, modification or other work done from this knowledge base. Any product eligibility information provided here is based on general application guides and we recommend always referring to your specific aircraft parts manual, the parts manufacturer or consulting with a qualified mechanic.

Q: I see these are universal. Will these AirGizmos gust locks work well installing on C-152 and C-172 rudders?

Yes, these are universal and will work great with the aircraft you mentioned.

Q: Will the AirGizmos Universal Gust Lock (part # 13-06139) work on a RV rudder?

Per AirGizmos: Yes, this will work on an RV rudder just fine. The best place to install this is at the top at the counterweight. On an RV-10 you may need a step stool to reach that high.

Q: Can the orientation of the strap be rotated on the Airgizmos Gust Lock so that the locks are horizontal when used as a rudder lock?

The strap orientation cannot be rotated.

Q: Will these Airgizmos Gust Locks work for a 1979 cessna 182Q?

These gust locks are not aircraft specific but they should work fine. They fit most general aviation aircraft and the Cessna 182 is a common model and should be a good fit for these locks.

Q: Does it come in pair or you need to buy for one airplane?

No, these come as two halves as pictured.

Q: Will this Airgizmos Universal Gust Lock work on a Mooney M20C?

This is universal and should work fine with the Mooney M20C.

Q: Do gust locks like this require FAA approval for use? I could not find anything in the FAR. Was there some kind of FAA certification on these?

We do not believe they would as they are not used while the aircraft is in use, like pitot covers, or cowl plugs. However, we always recommend confirming with an A&P whenever using or installing any item to a certified aircraft.
