Note: Plane-Power alternator only products do not include the required mounting hardware. First time installers must purchase Plane-Power alternator kit.
An alternative to high-priced, marginally-performing, rebuilt used replacement aircraft alternators.
Plane-Power alternators are the product of years of research, development and intensive testing. Each component has been engineered, developed, tested and re-tested exclusively for use in general aviation aircraft. As a result of these efforts, Plane Power alternators offer significant improvements over legacy aircraft alternator offerings including:
• Generate significantly less heat while producing rated power
• Generate rated power at typical aircraft cruise RPMS
• Vastly improved balancing drastically reduces bracket failure
• Greater reliability for significantly increased service life
• Weigh up to four pounds less
Any unit being returned for core or warranty core credit shall be, as removed from the engine, complete and not disassembled. No core or warranty core credit will be allowed for automotive units. Units that are rusty or cannot be overhauled for any reason will be classified as scrap, having no value. Units which have been weld repaired, as well as units which have been disassembled and then reassembled with old parts, will also be classified as scrap, having no value. A percentage of the core value will be charged for all missing or damaged parts. At no time will the damaged or missing parts charge on any unit exceed the core value of that unit.
1. Core will only be accepted for credit 12 months from date of invoice.
2. Cores returned in excess of cores invoiced will not be accepted.
3. Cores must be of like purchase, a directly superseded unit or replaced unit when installing an STC'd product.
4. Competitive product cores are acceptable returns.
5. Cores must have a legible data tag for part and serial number verification.
Note: Customer will need to provide core for overhaul in the event our supplier does not have cores available to overhaul.
Time will tell but hopefully this will permanently end the all too frequent occurrence of alternator failure! Have installed a couple of these and in each case some mods had to be made to the bracket. Example is my plane had a 3/8 pivot bolt and the PP alternator is configured for a 7/16 bolt. We had to get a bushing and also several bushings were required to space it properly for belt alignment. Not sure if all of that is in the optional install kit or not. Also in one case the standard drive belt was too short by about one inch. otherwise alternator seems well-built.
HARTZELL PLANE POWER ALTERNATOR ONLY 10-1050A
Good product I hope! Previous one burned out after 400 hours. Hope this one last longer!
HARTZELL PLANE POWER ALTERNATOR ONLY 10-1050C
Direct replacement for alternator that came in Van’s firewall forward kit. Van’s did not have any in stock, Spruce did and it works great.
PLANE-POWER HARTZELL ALTERNATOR 99-1012
Order received on time as promised, appreciated the extra effort. Thanks
Fast, efficient service.
I maintain 8 planes and put Plane Power altinators in them. Very pleased with the results. One word of caution, one failed and I discovered that someone else had tightened the belt too much. This caused the bearing to fail. These altinators have only one front bearing and cant take a very tight belt. P.S. I was in the United Arib Emeritus, on a round the world flight and Aircraft Spruce got me a new altinator in two days. Unbelievable
Hartzell/Plane Power alternators are top notch. However, be careful: I replaced mine with this unit (Cardinal 177RG) and found that the pulley on the new alternator did not have enough forward extension to provide proper belt alignment. I had to obtain a different pulley that was appropriate for my installation. Hartzell Tech Support was VERY HELPFUL, but it still set me back several days. If in doubt, talk to Hartzell before ordering.

For example, the 10-1050 (07-17755) alternator is externally regulated. You can use the P/P R1224 or R1224B regulators, both of which are 12 or 24 volt depending on how you have them configured.
No. This alternator does have a built in noise filter.
