Using in 0- 15° temp, uninsulated hanger, warmed engine to over 50° in @ 3-4 hours (based on my highly calibrated HF laser thermometer!!! testing in different locations on the engine) with moving blanket over cowling, small size allows it to fit underneath tight cowling (Flight Design CTSW), long power cord extremely helpful, the thermostat on the unit works surprisingly well to regulate the temperature, have left the unit plugged-in and operating, would check on the unit every hour or so periodically, to find the unit cycling on and off depending on temperature demand…. Just wish I would’ve got a free hat!!!

This heater works just like the manufacturer says it will! Read and follow the instructions... Super easy. I initially left this powered on for one week, with three blankets over the cowling. The outside low temps were in the high teens and low 20s, and plane is in an uninsulated hangar. The thermostats work as intended. I checked on it periodically during the week, and it was not running constantly, which was a concern of mine. Engine start up was much healthier than when using oil pan heater, which I will no longer use. I now recommend this heater to everyone. I love that this heater is built just for this purpose.

I’ve had this a week here in Reno. Outside Temps in the morning have been in the twenties. Cylinders and oil temps have been in the 50s so it is doing the job One issue, I have is the cowl on my aircraft (1964 Mooney M20c) does not allow me to insert the heater into the cowl, so the heater is sitting in front just behind the prop. I put an extra moving blanket on and clipped in tight around the prop. The back cylinders end up being a few degrees colder than fronts.

Nice safety features for heating in a potentially explosive environment. But not enough watts to raise the temp in northern (Alaska) winters even with an Alaska made insulated engine cover. Manufacturer said maybe I should buy two! That would probably work but I would rather have Reiff or Tanis.
