The replacement can cutter blade is 13-03958. As pictured, this replacement blade has a raised centrepiece. If 12-21396 is used, the shoulders are not raised, so washers will need to be used to pack the height so the thread for the retaining nut does not reach its maximum before tensioning the blade. The raised shoulders are the only difference between them. However, the item works equally well with either, especially given that the tool requires the blade to have some freedom of movement.

Excellent product! Used this just a few days ago, and it worked like a charm. Put the hex head in the vice and cut the end off in just a few minutes. This thing looks very durable, and the cutter is easy to change out if it breaks or chips. I bought this one because it looked beefy and well done. Ive seen a couple of other ones that did not hold up too well in practical use. I expect this one to last.

Tried it for the first time a couple weeks ago, works great. Easy way to cut open the oil filter can without contaminating the inside with debris. Might be worth ordering a couple spare blades. Once the can is off, cut the filter material with a razor knife, pull it out, and inspect. Check any metal found with a magnet.

Agree. Its an oil filter cutter, which is what I wanted. Works as advertised except it took me several rotations to cut through. Same as cutting a pipe or pvc/abs. The blade is shipped loose, so dont miss finding it in the popcorn filler. Awful and messy stuff.

Ive tried every design of OFC there is - even one Ive milled. This is by far the cheapest, most practice, and professional. Dont waste an additional $30.00 on an Airwolf. This OFC cuts open every filter I know. Use that other $30.00 and take your kids to Dairy Queen.....

The wheel cutter would not tighten per the instructions, as the nut ran out of thread before it contacted the wheel. This left the wheel very wobbly and unusable. I inserted a washer that was not included with the cutter wheel. Seems to work fine now, only used it once so far.

The first one I ordered came with several nicks that exposed the bare aluminum under the fancy anodized finish. The damage was only cosmetic but I returned it asking for one that was undamaged. Several weeks later I received the replacement, It also had nicks exposing the bare aluminum. The damage to both appears to have been caused before the tool was sealed in the plastic bag and was not shipping damage. Why spend the time and money on a fancy anodized finish if it is going to damaged before the tool reaches the customer? Far better to make the tool cheaper and forget the fancy finish. That way the customer can dress the damage so it doesnt show. Yes, it does cut filters open.

Cutter wheel would not fit on shaft, had to drill out center for wheel to fit !! Company needs to get there act together!! For that price it shouldnt be happening !!!
