The AV-74 (.425 Stud Length) & the AV-74-1 (.800 Stud Length) are a broadband blade type antenna for transponders or DME application. The antenna housing is constructed of an acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylic (ASA) shell. The white color allows maximum performance without losses due to color pigments or unseen dirt. The antenna is supplied with cellular neoprene mounting pad and hardware. The antenna is designed to operate at speeds up to 350 mph and altitudes up to 50,000 ft. It has a drag force of 0.09 lbs @ 250 mph. This antenna is a direct replacement for the CI-105.
A performer in the antenna market, easy installation and priced right.
Installed this with my KN-64 to complete my IFR capabilities. Works great. Havenât had any issues.
Very good quality. I kept breaking the âTEDâ type bc of the antenna location when I would pull the cowl pins on my RV-7. I decided on the blade type since it is more durable.
Easy as pie! Good job
Please visit our webpage again and under the documents tab there is an updated pdf with mounting stud sizes and mounting details.
Both versions of the AV-74 support ADS-B. The AV-74-1 is slightly larger and is available under part number 11-13996.
This antenna may work but it has not been tested by Garmin for the GDL 82. Please view P/N: 11-17965 CI-105 which is the same style antenna. You can also view the installation manual for the GDL 82 for more acceptable tested antennas.
All antennas require a groundplane of some sort. In the case of a composite airframe, you must install a metal groundplane meeting the fabrication requirements set forth in ac 43.13-1b
We have a PDF version of the manual/footprint for the antenna. Please review this document to ensure the measurements.
Yes. This antenna can work with the ESG transponder.
We recommend the RG400 Coax Cable.
